MEET THE CURIO TEAM: CLARE

Clare is an Associate at Curio, joining in 2023. She tells us about the favourite part of her job, what she enjoys most about helping clients and why hiring managers and candidates enjoy working with her.

Why did you join Curio Careers?

I joined Curio because it was the only executive search set-up where I could guarantee integrity and values would be implemented.  Recruiting is not my first career and I am not a naturally motivated salesperson. As Curio’s founder and I had both worked for the same company previously we had a foundation and experience that was similar (albeit on different continents) which allowed us to offer something different and very human-centric to our processes rather than looking at targets and the hard sell.

 

What’s your favourite part of your job?

I genuinely get excited when I feel I have a very good match between my candidate and client and they are in the interview stages. I love getting feedback from both parties and really feel this feedback is the most prevalent motivator.

 

What do you enjoy most about helping clients find their ideal candidates?

I really enjoy the tricky briefs and something left of centre. When a client asks for a profile that they’ve been advertising for or have been using other recruiters on for a while and have little hope; I love showing them who I can find!

 

What’s the one piece of advice you’d give someone starting in this field?

I’d say you have to be resilient and make sure you are a people-person.  You will do a lot of work that doesn’t result in an interview or placement; over and over again.  They do come though.

 

Why do hiring managers and candidates like working with you?

I am honest and try to be direct and to the point.  I focus on the job in hand; I don’t over-promise anything, I am also very selective as to who I send through for a role.  It is my job to cut down on the work a hiring manager has to do.  If they can rely on my to provide a select few candidates who more than fit the role and are ready to jump into an interview process then I believe they will want to continue working with me.
