JOB SUMMARY:
This position is to clearly define and lead the studios commercial workplace interior design offering. The creative director will have responsibility for the P+L reporting into the managing director. They currently have a small mixed team of architects and interior designers focused on the commercial workplace. The studio is in a position to hire a creative director allowing the managing director to be less project and team involved. The majority of projects are CAT B, they are keen to be designing and building more CAT A of up to 6000 sqft currently. Projects are across the UK, some in Europe and with Tier 1 clients, develops and end -users.
TASKS:
Business Development:
The creative director will be proactive with business development and the role will have the board, and a head of communications to support with contacts and positioning. Profiles who have a network in London and prior experience in business development will be preferred. If business development is an area you are confident with and haven’t yet had full exposure your profile will be considered. The studio is fortunate to have forged great contacts and a strong network and existing portfolio of work commercial workplace through architecture and interior design.
Design:
The creative director is expected to have great design abilities and a portfolio to demonstrate this. The role will remain hands on designing and drawing, suiting creatives who want to remain close to projects. The client is looking for rounded knowledge of FF+E, interior design and architecture, be up to date with current trends and be a visionary design lead. Those who are able inspire, influence clients and encourage their teams enjoying a collaborative and supportive design process would fit this role. The studio has a flat hierarchy and freedom in design, meaning there is no house style - this is to be developed with the team and managing director.
Leadership and Management:
The creative director will lead and manage a team - mentor, guide and nurture a happy environment for creativity. The studio is looking for good communicators who are able to create a safe environment where design can be critiqued.
YOUR REQUIREMENTS:
This is a career defining opportunity for an architect, interior architect or interior designer ready to take on the leadership position of a commercial workplace sector within a wider studio offering. The studio has resource, structures in place to support the success of this role and are keen to find a grounded individual who has ambition, drive and humility.
Demonstrable experience should include at least 8-10 years in a commercial workplace. The client would like to see rounded profiles, experience of running projects across all stages and have a clear understanding of the deliverables and financial accountability. Preferred characteristics are designers who are diligent, accurate, organised and those who are comfortable with clients, PM's.
