JOB SUMMARY:
The practice is 18 months old, set up and led by an ex-partner of a leading global studio. The team is currently 8 full-time architects and one associate. Freelancers are employed as and when needed to support projects. They work on 2-3 projects at any one time which are design-led, large-scale mixed-use projects in Dubai and across the Middle East. One of the current projects is a 400,000 sqft mixed-use scheme in the UAE. The studio will split projects between pre-planning and taking certain schemes through all stages.
You’ll be joining a new culture, non-hierarchical and where the focus is on producing a high-quality product. There is little regard for politics and there is genuine care and support for each other. The studio is already competing and has won projects against the biggest practices in the world. They already have an exceptional foundation and depth of knowledge in the Middle East to rival the global studios.
The associate role is to support the founder with one other associate. The associate will take on leadership responsibilities of projects and manage the team of architects. This will be a client-facing role and where you will be responsible to be the client contact throughout the duration of the project.

TASKS:

You’ll work in a close-knit team who’s vision collectively is to produce quality design-led and work with the best clients. They are a collaborative and supportive team who all work together on the same end goal. Design is key and there is no singular design voice, the whole team comes together with design ideas.
The role would suit architects who enjoy taking on responsibility and are interested in developing their management and leadership skills whilst remaining close to the projects and design. will still be an expectation to design and founder will take on the creative lead in the studio allowing the architects to develop those ideas. You also get the opportunity to work directly with a highly experienced studio leader and have exposure to seeing how a studio develops.
The aim is to have 20 architects by next year, the associate will be a key role to lead and manage this team and develop talent. As the studio is still small the team take on all roles and no task is off limits to support the growth of the studios and individual architects. Architects who are ready to join an entrepreneurial studio would suit the lively energy, passionate and dynamic team.
YOUR REQUIREMENTS:
Experience in the UAE is not necessary. Ambition to create quality work is key. Ideally, those who have large-scale project experience would be suited to typology. The associate is expected to have experience being client-facing and be experienced in presenting to clients, handling client relations and nurturing client relationships. planning project programmes seeing all stages of the RBA process. The studio will split its projects between pre-planning and taking certain schemes through all stages. The founder is looking for associates who have 5-7 years of post-part III qualification.
Character traits that would well are profiles who strive to produce the best work, and can think in both the macro and micro. Design should be at the forefront and the founder is expecting to see beautiful curated portfolios. You should be comfortable with the competition stage, the practice will be doing a lot of these to build up their portfolio of work. Current projects are in the design development stage where you’ll get to join the early stages and see projects through all stages.
