Global architectural practice is looking to appoint a design director to oversee its team of 120.
JOB SUMMARY:
The design director would work alongside the Managing Director, with a focus on steering design quality for the practice, raising design standards, and ensuring the quality of works produced. This is a new role for the global practice, which currently covers all sectors across the EMEA region. The focus for this role would cover health, education, master planning and S&T. The role would be based in London full-time with hybrid working.
TASKS:

The ideal candidate would have prior experience managing and leading multi-million-pound projects and understand all the RIBA stages, as well as having a global perspective. The role requires client-facing experience, inspiring clients and teams with innovative ideas, and taking a lead role in presenting, pitching, and creating designs. There is no specific design style that they look for, as they analyze each project in context. Their ethos is not in form-filling, and they look to maintain an individual approach to projects. The sectors they are most interested in include health, education, and science however they do cover other sectors.
This opportunity entails being responsible for promoting great design, supporting and motivating the team, and advocating for design excellence both internally and externally. It's a chance to take on a broader studio role where you will have the opportunity to review multiple projects, assist in project set-up, introduce new work methodologies, and ensure the delivery of quality design processes and projects.
YOUR REQUIREMENTS:

The client is looking for strong concept design-led portfolios, UK, EU projects are preferred however EMEA projects will be considered. This profile will have over 15 years of experience in a similar role or will have hit the glass ceiling and be ready to take on a studio-wide role. The role will start in Q1 of next year, all notice periods will be considered.
